This is a post I put on another blog back in 2005, so I thought I’d post it here to kick things off. Incidentally, after two years, my new neighbors are still really awesome!

Have you ever read any inspirational books or gone to one of those seminars where they tell you how to get rich, quick? Yeah, me too.

Anyway, there’s one thing that I’ve found actually helpful from those experiences. They all say to hang around with people who are what you want to be. Wow! It’s profound. But I must say that it carries some weight.

A friend of mine was over this weekend helping me cut down a dead elm tree. And it was turning out to be a lot more work than I thought it would be ( another failing of mine ). But we had three neighbors come over to offer advice and help. I realized that God had used them to help us out. Each offer made things easier or less stressful, as well as helping to confirm that I had moved ( just recently ) to the right place. I thanked Him right then.

Several hours later, after my friend had left, and thought about how much I admire him and how just being around him helped me to be more aware of God. It’s hard to explain, and this post probably doesn’t make any sense to you. I want to be closer to God, considered a man of God, and to see His Face!! This friend of mine, helps me get there, just by being around him. I would even say that our spirits know each other.

So, find that person. Find that person who is what you want to be and just hang out. It’s bound to rub off.
